You can send a signature request on sign.dropbox.com or on the Dropbox mobile app.
On sign.dropbox.com
- Log in to sign.dropbox.com.
- Click Sign or send.
- Select the file(s) you’d like to send for signature.
- To add files from your computer, click Upload file and follow the prompts, or drag and drop files where it says Drag and drop files here.
- To add files from a third-party application, click the icon for the application where your files are located and follow the prompts.
- Once you’ve added all your files, click Next.
- Add the names and email addresses of the people who need to sign.
- Note: You can add up to 20 signers per signature request.
- Click Next.
- Click and drag the fields you’d like to add from the left sidebar to your document.
Learn more about using the Dropbox Sign editor.- To change who a field is assigned to, click the field you’d like to assign, then click the dropdown menu under Assigned to in the right sidebar.
- By default, all fields are required. To make a field optional, click the field you’d like to make optional, then toggle Required to off in the right sidebar.
- Click Next.
- Under Email to signers, add a subject and message.
- Note: You may not have the option to edit the Subject and Message fields if an admin on your team has enabled HIPAA compliance.

- Click Send for signature.
On the Dropbox mobile app for iOS and Android
- Open the Dropbox mobile app.
- Navigate to the PDF you’d like to send for signature.
- Tap the document to open the preview.
- Tap Edit/Sign in the lower left.
- Tap Sign in the menu bar at the bottom.
- Choose Other people.
- Enter the signer’s name and email address.
- Note: You can only add one signer on the Dropbox mobile app.
- Tap Next.
- Add the fields you’d like to your PDF using the menu bar at the bottom of your screen.
- Note: All fields that you add will be required for your signer to fill out.
- Edit the Subject and Message to be sent to your signer, if you’d like.
- Tap Send.
A copy of your PDF will be added to the same location as your original PDF, with the latest signature request status appended to the file name, such as “Sample_PDF (pending)”.
Notes:
- All Dropbox customers can send up to three free signature requests per month.
- Customers on a paid Dropbox Sign plan or Dropbox Essentials, Business, or Business Plus can send more, depending on their plan.
- If you’ve set up branded sharing, your logo will appear in all signature request emails and previews.
- Templates aren’t available on the Dropbox mobile app.
