During template creation users have the option of selecting certain fields to merge data. Users must ensure that any fields chosen and placed in the “Data to merge” column are also mapped onto the template during the document preparation phase.
Any fields which are then not mapped onto the document can cause an error, most commonly “Invalid customer field: (name of missing object)”. Here is an example error from a template with the Opportunity.Amount field chosen to merge data, but where no corresponding textbox field was dragged onto the document:
If you experience this error, please edit your template per the instructions in our and remove the field as a merge data selection. Alternatively, if you wish to include the missing field, you can create a new template.
