Templates are a powerful tool in Salesforce, but it’s important to keep in mind some important usage tips:
- All templates used in Dropbox Sign for Salesforce must be created, edited, and maintained in Salesforce. While these templates are viewable in the list of templates in our app, they can’t be modified there (nor should they be used to create signature requests from our app). Attempts to modify Dropbox Sign for Salesforce templates in our app will not reflect back in Salesforce and will result in a corrupted template.
- Similarly, templates created in our app can not be used in Salesforce. If an existing template from our app is needed in Salesforce it will need to be recreated there.
- When editing a template in Salesforce, please be sure to do so via the “Edit Template” button after clicking into the template record. Edits attempted via the “Edit” button or various pencil icons will not save properly and may corrupt the template and render it irretrievable for future editing.
- Please see our separate articles on using merge fields and writeback fields.
